Carlisle Harrison, a long standing volunteer in the Hermiston area was awarded the Lasting Impact Award by the State of Oregon Recreation & Parks Association. It is a prestigious award covering the state of Oregon that recognizes the impacts people, projects or organizations on the park system.

Making the Film:

When taking on this project the main goal was to tell Carlisle Harrisons story and inspire others to take action in the community. Duquette Media was tasked by Hermiston Parks and Recreation to create a short documentary approximately 5 - 10 minutes in length.

The Team hit the ground running conducting 5 interviews with different community members that all knew Carlisle. After capturing about 3 hours of interview footage, the daunting task of making key selections began. After the best interview takes were chosen, the Duquette Media team planned b-roll. We captured key parks around Hermiston that Carlisle has impacted.

Being almost 90 years old, anyone would be impressed to know that Carlisle still actively works on building parks. Showing his youthful energy was essential to telling his story, and we managed to capture him installing roofing on a new gazebo in the park named after him, Harrison Park.

The biggest challenge our team and partners at the city faced during this whole process was collecting archival media. Very few materials actually existed so we had to be creative and use them sparingly.

The Hermiston Parks and Rec. department gave us total creative flexibility. After the video had been roughly completed we realized there was a couple missing elements, and took action to capture them. The Lasting Impact Award was one of the missing elements we were yet to capture. Duquette Media was fortunate and able to borrow the award, capturing it in beautiful lighting helping to portray the gravity of this award.

Almost 3 months after receiving the call to tell this amazing story, Duquette media produced a 9 minute mini documentary from start to finish. From early stage logistics, shooting interviews, b-roll and editing.

The film received high praise at the Oregon Recreation & Parks Association meeting when Carlisle received his award and even at the Hermiston city council on November 25th, 2025.
